Meet Deborah

Deborah Carruthers BA, BSW, MA grew up in a single-parent home with a mother and siblings that needed support and guidance. She developed skills early in life that led her to find a vocation in helping people reach their goals and transform their lives. She became a single parent herself and while raising young children, she went back to school, first to upgrade and over the course of twenty years, earned three university degrees.

While earning her Master’s Degree, Deborah became interested in research that showed promising results for folks with depression and anxiety, when they practiced yoga. Upon completion of her degree, she took a yoga teacher training course that was life-enhancing and sent Deborah in the direction of a holistic approach to working with clients and students.

Deborah's goal was to open a wellness center that included counselling, bodywork, yoga, meditation, workshops, and yoga teacher training. Harmony Yoga and Wellness Center has been an important part of the community for over ten years now.

Deborah's vision for the future is to offer these courses to a greater audience by offering a learning and practice platform that is easy to access and can become an evolutionary approach to health and happiness.

Deborah offers her life's work with authenticity, compassion and lived experience. With a graduate degree in Psychology, she brings the skills to meet people where they are at, to develop and meet goals and transitions in life. For the last fourteen years, she has studied and taught yoga and travelled to India to connect with the deep wisdom embedded in the philosophy of the ancients.

Deborah will weave together current, evidenced research with the teachings of Ayurveda to help you achieve radiant health and well-being. The offering includes individual work, online groups and education programs.

One of the gifts of the last few years is greater access to people around the world that are seeking knowledge and a holistic approach to life.

Giving Back to The Community

Deborah's commitment to building healthy communities begins with a commitment to donate 10% of all revenue to local charities such as the food bank, scholarships for students and clients who cannot afford to pay for services.

Future projects include building a foundation to serve the local and non-local communities and projects that need funding.
